Ama Dablam (6856 m) – Southwest ridge

Between April 22 and May 7 Philippe Gatta and Jean-Marc Wojcik have climbed the Southwest Ridge of Ama Dablam (6 856 m / 22,493 ft). They have been very quick; only 16 days round trip from Kathmandu. They were only two, climbing without Sherpas. They carried out all they gear from / to the base camp and at the end of the expedition they took down all their rubbish leaving nothing in the high camps.

They climbed the Southwest Ridge which has been climbed first by Mike Gill, Barry Bishop, Mike Ward and Wally Romanes. Grade: VI 5.9 60°, 1500 m.
