Alpinism: Aiguille du Midi – La Dame du Lac (Mont Blanc Massif)

Yesterday Morgan and I climbed La Dame du Lac at Aiguille du Midi (Mont Blanc Massif), a nice route overall with a very nice first half, especially the second pitch. As often in the Aiguille du Midi, the second half is a bit confusing and we mistakenly climbed some pitches of Quand Yannick s’en mêle. […]

Mont Blanc du Tacul – Goulotte Bodin Afanasieff

The Bodin Afanasieff gully is an obvious route well visible from Les Houches. The route follows a 600 meters gully in the Northwest rocky face of Mont Blanc du Tacul. Mont Blanc du Tacul – Goulotte Bodin Afanasieff. End of approach in dotted line (© P. Gatta)

Alpinism: Pointes Lachenal – A l’oree du bois

Traversée des Aiguilles de Chamonix

After almost a week of bad weather, high pressures are back and Alex and I could finally go back in Mont Blanc Massif for a fantastic climb of the Aiguilles de Chamonix. Around 3.5 km of ridge, 7 peaks crossed and 20 hours of climb from Aiguille du Midi to Plan de l’Aiguille. After col […]

Aiguille du Midi: Rebuffat – Baquet

Many years ago, I climbed the Rébuffat – Baquet route in the South face of Aiguille du Midi in Mont Blanc Massif. Beautiful route but we “got lost” above the 6th pitch and finished by another route… Climbers on the Aiguille du Midi ridge (© P. Gatta)
