Contamine, Labrunie and Vaucher opened their route on Aiguille du Peigne almost 60 years ago. It is a classic, nice, logical route and despite the reasonable grades (TD, 6a 400m), we ended up with pumped arms.

We started from Plan de l’Aiguille and reached the base of Aiguille du Peigne in 45 minutes. It is convinient to start from the 1st anchor of Maillon Manquant and then traverse left.

The Contamine Vaucher route is 400 meters, 15 pitch long: 4c, 4c, 2, 5b, 5c, 4c, 6a, 5b, 5b.

The simpler is to descend along the Maillon Manquant.
